Urban gardens, bike rides and citizen guides: this summer, the Ministry of the Economy is making the Grand Duchy's natural heritage the theme of the ninth edition of its summer campaign "Lëtzebuerg, dat ass Vakanz!" Because sometimes, the best holidays take place in our own backyard.

Holiday usually conjures images of airplanes… but what if the best escape is right at home? As the saying goes, the grass isn't always greener elsewhere—and this year, Luxembourg's own lush landscapes unfurl in all their glory, inviting locals and curious explorers to witness a truly unique spectacle.

Proving, once again, that sometimes the most memorable vacations happen right in front of your door.

Lëtzebuerg, dat ass Vakanz!

That's the bold slogan the Ministry of the Economy has chosen for its  nationwide campaign to promote local tourism, launched in close partnership with Luxembourg's regional tourism professionals.

By now a household name across the country, this campaign has just entered its ninth edition. Every summer, it spotlights a different theme: gastronomy in 2022, active tourism in 2023, culture in 2024—and in 2025, the focus turns to our natural heritage: parks, geological sites, rivers, forests… all celebrated in their wild, unspoiled glory.

Proof that our little country has a lot to offer.

From spring all the way to summer's end

While Lëtzebuerg, dat ass Vakanz! is already underway, the festivities are far from over. The campaign continues to shine a spotlight on activities across Luxembourg throughout the entire summer season.

Luxembourg Urban Garden

Until October 18, the Grand Duchy becomes a living laboratory with the Luxembourg Urban Garden (LUGA) pop-up exhibition, dedicated to urban gardening, landscape design, and ecological innovation. LUGA invites visitors to wander over 11 kilometers of green corridors spanning five iconic sites: Parc municipal Édouard André, the Alzette Valley, the Pétrusse Valley, the Kirchberg district, and the town of Ettelbruck.

As a hub for exchange and experimentation, LUGA brings together visitors, professionals, and researchers to explore the future of public spaces and urban nature. Its rich program also features hands-on workshops, expert talks, interactive installations, and contemporary art displays, ensuring inspiration at every turn.

#GuideForOneDay

Until September 27, the Guide for One Day initiative returns. Launched in 2017, it transforms each participant into an ambassador for the country by inviting them to share their personal vision of a place for one day.

Anyone—whether a resident, cross-border commuter, or passionate visitor—can propose a tour or volunteer to guide a small group. These outings are informal, warm, and driven by the guide’s own enthusiasm, offering an authentic, deeply personal experience that gives tourism a whole new dimension.

It's also a fantastic opportunity to help newcomers feel at home and strengthen social bonds, all while celebrating Luxembourg's rich cultural, natural, and geographic diversity.

Vëlosummer 2025

Until August 24, the sixth edition of Vëlosummer rolls into town—an open invitation to (re)discover Luxembourg by bike.

Whether you're young or young at heart, a first-timer or a seasoned rider, there's a perfect route waiting for you among the many trails crisscrossing every region. Expect breathtaking scenery, hidden gems around every bend, and memories you'll treasure long after the pedals stop turning.

The perfect summer in Luxembourg

Whether by bike or on foot, along cycle paths or in shaded parks, Lëtzebuerg, dat ass Vakanz! offers the ideal opportunity for visitors to explore our country, for residents to rediscover it, and for all those who appreciate Luxembourg throughout the year to enjoy it even more intensely this summer.

Whether you are active or prefer a more relaxed pace, young or young at heart, a resident, a cross-border commuter, a Luxembourger or just passing through – everyone is warmly invited to experience Luxembourg this summer.

With Lëtzebuerg, dat ass Vakanz!, our country presents itself in its very best summer form.
