Glamping: Luxembourg's tourism industry in transition

Glamping: The comfortable counterpart to conventional camping is a prominent trend within Luxembourg's tourism industry. How the luxurious alternative can extend the season and how its promotion can boost the regional economy in the long term.

Slow tourism with a twist: more and more tourists are opting for glamping, a form of holiday that skilfully combines nature and comfort. Grand View Research states that the global glamping market was estimated at around 2.93 billion euros in 2023 and projects an expected annual growth rate of 8.7 per cent until 2030.

"Traditional camping – travelling somewhere by car, pitching a tent – is on the decline, " observes Lex Delles (DP), Minister for Economic Affairs, SMEs, Energy and Tourism. He has observed a change in the expectations of tourists coming to Luxembourg. He knows for a fact that campsites that have invested in innovative accommodation concepts are generally better booked: "All the figures we have point in this direction, and the campsite operators themselves can attest to this."
