Let's talk about inclusion on the Luxembourg labour market. 1 cm is a podcast that aims to be as accessible as possible. That's why it's extending beyond streaming platforms - all the way to social networks, with a campaign that defends a fundamental principle of human rights: that of information for everyone, without discrimination.
The very first stages of designing the 1 cm podcast were imbued with the principle of "Nothing about us, without us".
On the networks, this translated into a call for testimonials. Instead of calling on the usual interview partners, we wanted to give everyone the chance to share their story. That's why – together with Info-Handicap – we posted the following advert on Instagram, Facebook and Linkedin.
With the option of contacting us via WhatsApp or email – we wanted to be as inclusive as possible – the advert was a great success. We received many calls and messages from people motivated to share their life stories.
Of the people we decided to follow in the workplace, more than half came from this call.
From production to publication
The 1 cm podcast was produced by the community, for the community.
Joanne Theisen, host of the podcast, has a hidden disability. This is not revealed until the final episode, to underline everything that has been said during the series and to counter any stereotypes.
But 1 cm extends beyond streaming platforms.
Because a podcast, by definition, is not 100 per cent inclusive. So our team asked the following question: How can we be as accessible as possible? The answer is simple: in writing.
"Our priority was not to innovate, but to be inclusive. This uncompromising accessibility turned into innovation."
Maxime Toussaint, Head of Podcast, Lëtzebuerger Journal
Each episode was published as a plain-language article – in French, German and English – on our website, but also as a gallery on our social networks, giving rise to an innovative project in terms of its accessibility.

Of course, the campaign also included video content.
Namely teasers with the central question: What does "1 cm" mean to you?

The 1 cm podcast has attracted attention beyond Luxembourg.
International recognition
The German media company Deutsche Welle has declared 1 cm as Best Practice in terms of inclusion via its national development centre, DW Akademie. In addition to an interview with Maxime Toussaint, our Head of Podcast, published on their website, they dedicated their first PodCircle Meet-Up of 2026 to the series.
