The 25 or so dancers from "Wir stellen uns vor...!" (we imagine or we introduce ourselves) will be "on" stage three times from March. It's been a long road for all of them until the big moment, because whether with or without trisomy 21: everyone's artistic expression is unique and that's exactly what they want to show.
Anyone entering the Kulturfabrik in Esch on 21 March will quickly notice that everything here is somehow different from what they are used to. The audience does not take a seat in the hall as usual, but sits on the stage and looks down, as a dance spectacle is about to be performed downstairs. The reason for the change of position: the dancers are members of Trisomie 21 Lëtzebuerg and feel more comfortable with two feet firmly on the ground, where they can express themselves without losing their footing.
"Wir stellen uns vor…!" (we imagine or we introduce ourselves), a project that was conceived in Sandra Beck's head back in 2023 and that can now finally be brought out into the open, with all its images, dances and facets. On the one hand, the title alludes to the performers' fantasy, their vivid imagination, but also to the desire to present themselves to the audience, indeed to society. "We first thought about the dance spectacle after the 'Image' project for the annual World Down Syndrome Day, for which a photo exhibition with portraits of our members was organised. Painted pictures of our members were also shown the year before at the presentation of the name of the restaurant Madame Witzeg, which we then took to the rehearsals of our dance groups and looked at together, " explains the initiator and general artistic director of the project.
