If language courses have been booming over the last ten years, it's largely thanks to Luxembourgish. More and more people are immersing themselves in the language of Edmond de la Fontaine (also known by his pen name Dicks), not just because of their nationality, but also because they want to live better in the Grand Duchy.

Of the country's three official languages, French has long been the most popular in both public and private language centres. In 2009, 3,590 adults were registered at the National Institute of Languages (INL) to learn French, compared to 1,986 for Luxembourgish. Ten years later, the balance of power has shifted in favour of the spoken everyday language: 6,217 learners were enrolled in this department at the INL in 2019 compared to 5,772 in the French department.
