Autonomy instead of dependency: a smarter model for victim aid

Leaving is just the beginning. The emotional toll of gender-based violence is only part of the equation: the financial fallout can be just as devastating, and usually escapes the public eye. The road to safety is often paved with legal bills, housing rejections, and jobs put on the line among many others. Something that La Voix des Survivant(e)s is painfully aware of in their fight for structural reform.
It has been a few weeks since Ana Pinto, founder and president of non-profit survivor's association La Voix des Survivant(e)s (LVDS), and co-president Marie-Laure Rolland, accompanied by members of the Justice Group who helped draft their reform proposals, were in the Chamber of Deputies following the success of public petition 3409. The petition calls for concrete reforms to effectively battle gender-based violence and address its impact on child co-victims.
