Anne Heniqui has been President of the National Observatory on Childhood, Youth and Educational Quality (OEJQS) for the past nine months. A conversation about wasted potential in schools, Project Alpha – and why resources need to be better coordinated as a matter of urgency when it comes to inclusion.

Lëtzebuerger Journal: Anne Heniqui, in December 2025 you took over as chair of the National Observatory for Childhood, Youth and Educational Quality (OEJQS). More than a year and a half earlier, in March 2024, you joined as an observer. Why?

For me, in a way, it was a return to my roots. Writing reports, getting the most out of people – that's something I'm really passionate about (laughs). I then took on the presidency because it's a challenge. The National Observatory was only established in 2018, has only existed in its current form since 2022, and isn't yet running on a fully established track. There's still a lot to do, and I find this task exciting.
