"Still Making Trouble"

30 years ago, a venue was opened in a former car garage in Rue de Hollerich that continues to have a massive impact on Luxembourg's musical landscape to this day: the Atelier. The concert hall also stands as a symbol of Luxembourg's cultural awakening in the 1990s.

We meet Laurent Loschetter, co-founder of the Atelier and still the mastermind behind the project, last Friday in the mysterious backstage area of the music club.

The interview takes place just two hours before the first anniversary event of the jubilee year, but this doesn't seem to unsettle Loschetter in the slightest. In the background, his wife, Jette Kaiser, who is responsible for marketing and communications at the Atelier, is busy with the final preparations.

This evening, on this occasion, is reserved for invited guests, who can also look forward to a performance by the US-American queer icon Beth Ditto. Among the celebrity guests will be, among others, Lydie Polfer, who, incidentally, was mayor of the capital city when the Atelier was founded and is so once again, and who of course will not miss the opportunity to wish the Atelier all the best for its 30th anniversary in very personal words.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, a second birthday party is on the agenda, this time open to everyone, ptovided they have managed to get a ticket, featuring, among others, 2ManyDJs from Ghent and, representing Luxembourg, DJ Nosi and Don Simon – all under the promising motto "30 Years – Still Making Trouble".
