Director Lynn Warken's presidency of the Luxembourg Press Council, journalist Misch Pautsch's presidency of the national journalists' association and the second year in a row that a journal article has won the Amnesty Media Prize. We had reason to celebrate - and we did so together with the entire team and the Board of Directors last Friday.
"Even those who are small can achieve great things, " said Chairman of the Board of Directors Kik Schneider on Friday afternoon on the terrace of the Mirador in the Montée de Clausen. It all comes down to commitment, and the Lëtzebuerger Journal team is hardly short of that. On April 1, 2024, managing director Lynn Warken took up the presidency of the Conseil de Presse Luxembourgeois. Shortly afterwards, on May 21, 2024, journalist and photojournalist Misch Pautsch took over as President of the Association Luxembourgeoise des Journalistes Professionels (ALJP).
A week earlier, there was a third reason to celebrate. Freelance journalist Jang Kapgen won the jury's coup de coeur at the 2024 Amnesty Media Prize with his article LGBT+ in Ukraine: One year later. Christian Block was also nominated in the article category with his article Sentenced not to vote. Camille Frati had already won in the Article category in 2023 with her article Adopting alone, a never-ending legal battle. All three articles were illustrated with expressive photos by image editor and photographer Lex Kleren. Something that was important to us right from the start.
"Our work is recognised from the outside with awards like this. As editor-in-chief, I am particularly proud of this, " emphasised Melody Hansen, before toasting in a relaxed atmosphere.
