Luxembourg invests one percent of its gross national income in development cooperation. In the budget for 2021, 396 million euros have been earmarked for this purpose. This amount represents the stories of many people. The Lëtzebuerger Journal accompanied Cooperation Minister Franz Fayot on his first trip to Senegal and gained insight into some of these stories.
After a 14-hour journey – including waiting times at the airport – I am looking forward to one thing in particular while leaving Blaise Daigne International Airport in Dakar: fresh air. I step outside, pull the mask off my face, and take a deep breath. But the air is not fresh. It is warm and humid. It's 9:30 pm on November 3, 2021, and 27 degrees. Welcome to Senegal.
