Entry ticket to the professional world

Hugo wants to go where Béatrice is today. After several internships, the 17-year-old decided to train as a hairdresser. The search for a training company was not easy at first and when it finally worked out, employer and apprentice nevertheless parted ways early on. Problems in mathematics led to Hugo going back to school for another year. Today, Hugo is in his second year of training at the hairdressing salon Maud bis. "I am happy to have found a job here", he says. His goal is to obtain the vocational capacity certificate (CCP) followed by the vocational aptitude diploma (DAP) and also the master craftsman's diploma.

The fact that Hugo has found an apprenticeship is probably partly due to the fact that manager Silvia De Barros – after a negative experience with an apprentice – got along well with Béatrice, now 22, whom she contracted five years ago. In the meantime, Béatrice has completed the DAP training following her CCP degree. She also spent a year looking for the right training company that was not too far away, still had vacancies and that she also liked. It was through internships that she first came into contact with the hairdresser's shop in Ettelbruck. This example shows how important internships can be for both sides. This way, Béatrice found her training company, while the manager was able to get a better picture of the current employee in advance.
