"I am more than just a model"
By Pascal Steinwachs, Lex Kleren Switch to German for original articleSonia Gleis has many talents. Painting is her great passion, but she is probably best known for her modelling. Last year, she was also a CSV candidate in the local elections. With such an interesting CV, a portrait is almost a must.
We have been standing at the agreed meeting point in front of the Philharmonie for less than five minutes and are already shivering from the cold when a petite figure approaches us from afar and turns out to be Sonia Gleis. Despite her high heels, she masters the stairs to the Philharmonie with ease. The freezing cold and icy wind don't seem to bother her, as she is used to different things from her photo shoots.
We actually wanted to talk to her last year when she ran for the first time in the local elections on the CSV Strassen list and we came across a series of photos on social media in which she could be seen with Jean-Claude Juncker, among others. As Sonia Gleis recently had a solo exhibition at the Strassen gallery A Spiren, we had another opportunity for a chat, as the model has been travelling between Luxembourg and Paris for ages.
Ten years ago, we published a short interview with Sonia Gleis in the Journal, back then still in the print edition, as part of a cosmetics campaign for Dior.
By way of introduction, we would like to point out that not only are we not avoiding a bit of name-dropping in this article, but that all this actually makes things really interesting, as the CSV and the Strassen municipal council as well as Leonardo DiCaprio and Claudia Schiffer rarely appear in the same article.
