Luxembourg is currently developing a new national AI strategy, with several initiatives underway to help businesses, including SMEs, tackle related challenges. Here’s a look at a few of them.
Luxembourg’s first, high-level strategic AI vision for the country was put forward in 2019 by Xavier Bettel (DP), then Prime Minister and Minister for Digitalisation.
In the new 2023–2028 coalition agreement, it was noted how AI has the "immense potential to boost our economy and simplify the lives of our citizens" and that a number of pilot projects had already been carried out. Furthermore, "It will be essential to put in place an appropriate framework and to have these initiatives supported by professionals."
In a recent interview with Lëtzebuerger Journal, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity Elisabeth Margue (CSV) talked about the work being done on the inter-ministerial committee focused on digital policy. "We have a committee with four ministries: the Ministry of State with the SMC [Service des médias, de la connectivité et de la politique numérique], the Ministry of Economy, and then with Stéphanie Obertin, both in her capacity as Minister of Digitization and Research [and Higher Education], " Margue explained.
