The entrepreneurial rollercoaster

Setting up your own business is an intense adventure. We usually dwell on success stories. But sometimes the story of a failure can be just as instructive. Guillaume Perrodin agreed to tell us his story.

He tells us straight away. Just a few weeks ago, he probably wouldn't have given his story to the press. But his recent participation as a speaker at Fuckup Night, where he opened up in public about his entrepreneurial failure, did him "a lot of good". Guillaume Perrodin, now 38 and of French origin, found himself in Luxembourg somewhat by chance, through a series of professional ups and downs. He has experience in energy management and has worked for EDF and projects such as an eco-neighbourhood during the London Olympics in 2012. In Luxembourg, he was offered a job with a major property group, where he met his mentor: "He was my line manager, a great encounter. At the time, I had no limits in my work and I progressed up the ladder, but I soon felt cramped."

Although other opportunities could have opened up for him, Perrodin opted for a radical change. In 2016, he launched his company in Luxembourg, a complete co-ownership management platform that ranges from the digitalisation of general meetings to generally smoother procedures for these companies and owners. To embark on this adventure, he teamed up with two people, one with a tech profile and the other with a marketing profile. It got off to a promising start: "We raised funds fairly easily at the outset. We raised funds quite easily at the outset. 75,000 euros in a first 'family and friends' round, where a former customer was mainly responsible for this initial fund-raising."
