1. The editorial staff of the Lëtzebuerger Journal is independent. Our journalism is not dependent on political parties, professional federations or other interest groups.
2. With our selection of topics, protagonists and authors, we aim to reflect the diversity of lifestyles, beliefs and expectations of all social groups. Our media aims to be humane and inclusive in order to promote greater understanding in our society. We report at eye level.
3. Inclusion is also reflected in our language. All texts in the Journal are published in German, French and English to reflect multilingualism in Luxembourg. We have also decided to use gender-neutral language. There are no restrictions on audio and video content, but decisions are made depending on the topic and format.
4. We value the plurality of opinions. Freedom of opinion finds its limits where human dignity is violated or privacy and intimacy are disregarded.
5. We value and promote a culture of discussion, both within the team and with the public. We are not afraid to admit mistakes and sometimes change our minds. No member of our editorial team can be made to write anything against their convictions through internal or external pressure.
6. We choose our topics based on current affairs. However, we will also work on stories that are not part of the public discourse but have the potential to trigger a fruitful debate.
7. Editorial and marketing are clearly separated. The reporters are never involved in the commercial activities of the Lëtzebuerger Journal. Editorial content and advertising are visibly distinguished from each other.
8. We conduct thorough research and follow the multi-source principle when verifying information. We treat sources and informants responsibly and protect them if necessary.
9. Opinion pieces are consistently labelled as such. We provide factual information in reports.
10. In accordance with the Code de déontologie de la presse et des médias, our journalists commit to quoting interviewees correctly within quotation marks (right to the spoken word). We do not usually send interviewees their quotes before publication and are not obliged to do so. However, should they request this, the decision is at the journalist's discretion.
