DJ Nosi: From Ösling to Shanghai
By Pascal Steinwachs, Lex Kleren Switch to German for original article
From small clubs in Luxembourg to the stages of Tomorrowland, and on to Kuala Lumpur and Shanghai: Nosi, aka Eric Nosbusch, now plays sets all over the world, but remains just as down-to-earth as ever. A portrait.
It's not the sort of place where you'd automatically expect to find Luxembourg's most famous DJ: a dreary, rather unglamorous office block in Strassen, and yet this is where everything comes together, where business matters are sorted out and gigs are organised. It is there that we meet Eric Nosbusch, better known as Nosi, who has become hugely popular even beyond our borders thanks to his single So Good, released last year, which has now racked up the staggering figure of more than 80 million streams (!). He has even performed twice at the legendary Tomorrowland in Flanders, the Mecca and Woodstock of electronic dance music.
Shortly after our chat, the DJ and music producer – who now lives mainly in Vienna – was off to Kuala Lumpur again, where two gigs were waiting for him. Next on the itinerary was Lisbon, followed by two shows in Shanghai next weekend.
For some time now, his life has been played out not only in the studio, but also at airports and on festival stages. And yet Eric Nosbusch doesn't come across as someone who's just about to make his international breakthrough. "I'm still Nosi, " he says at one point during the conversation. That people now approach him wanting a selfie with him is something he finds hard to get his head round.
