The bluetongue disease has hit Luxembourg's agriculture hard despite prior warnings. While parallels to the COVID-19 pandemic seem inevitable, the improvement in communication promised by the authorities could already be put to the test in the coming months.

The last official announcement was made to the public at the end of October. When it had faded away, one could get the impression that the worst was over and the bluetongue problem had been "immunised away", so to speak.

But the reality was and is different. This was demonstrated by the massive turnout at the information event on 10 February at the Lycée Technique Agricole in Gilsdorf, when it was time to take stock for the first time after the virus had been at large for almost six months.
