Choosing Luxembourg

By Natalia PiknaLex Kleren

Luxembourg saw the birth of its university only twenty years ago, and in that time it has solidified itself in the international sphere. Today, it prepares to meet new challenges. In a discussion with the rector, students and researchers, we are trying to find out what brings people to pick the University of Luxembourg and what efforts are being made behind the scenes to attract them.

Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is the only public institution of its kind in the country. Currently, it offers forty-six master’s degrees and eighteen bachelor’s degrees in four teaching languages; the country’s French, German, and Luxembourgish as well as English. It is spread out across three campuses and boasts three faculties and interdisciplinary centres. In recent years, Luxembourg’s university has gone up and down in international university rankings.
