The Good Friday Agreement, or Belfast Agreement, marked the return of peace to Northern Ireland after more than thirty years of conflict. Robert Harmsen is a professor of political science and dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Luxembourg. He tells the Journal why this treaty means so much for peace in Europe, and why it has been such a thorn in the side of the British in the Brexit negotiations.
